About Us

Indian Resource And Development Association (IRADA)  is a not-for-profit NGO engaged in popularization and promotion of science and developing scientific temper in the society, children and youth in particular. It is a unique organization of its type in this part of India. IRADA’s aim is to be a “People Education Project” and to spread education and Science & health awareness among the rural masses. It envisages reaching out to people in their villages and provide them an opportunity to know and learn through various programmes such as exhibitions, slide/film shows, question –answer sessions, scientific experiments workshops, lectures etc. covering subjects like personal and social hygiene, social awareness, ecology and environment and development of scientific attitude and temper, schools children form the core target audience and emphasis is on developing a scientific temper within them.

Key Projects and Campaigns

  • 1. Demonstration of Science Activities (Annexure-)

Demonstration of science activities were organized in three districts of Haryana namely Karnal, Yamunanagar, Jind. Demonstration of Science Activities aim to reach the unreached with the message of effective Science Communication and for developing scientific temper among the society ,especially students The main objective for the Activities is to generate awareness and to disseminate scientific information in interesting and innovative formats.The target groups for these activities primarily include school & college students & youth and other sections of society.

  • Attraction of Programme

i. Presentation on different topics by experts.
ii. Beneficiaries Direct 17000 indirect 85000(approx.)
iii. Competitions for students like Painting, Quizes, and Science model.
iv. This type of activities organized in first time in these Districts.
v. On the spot competitions for students.

  • 2. Training on Hydroponics

In this activity the technique of hydroponics, i.e. growing plants in soilless condition was suggested. Based on the experiment and a record book of the project “Root and Shoot’ a full training module has been revised an record manual would be developed on the line of the record book of “OUR TREE”, and to stimulate the spirit if inquiry to the things around them and to encourage & guide them into exploring the environment so as to develop an intimate understanding about relationship with nature.

  • 3. Resource Person Training workshops on scientific explanation of Miracles

The Main objective of this training programme is to orient a group of resource persons, drawn from different parts of State to organize Demonstrations Workshops and shows etc., in science explanation of so called miracles for rural, masses & children. To create scientific attitude make science for all. These workshops organized in four districts of Haryana namely Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Yamunanagar and Ambala. The prime objective of the workshop was to provide opportunity to the participants to experience the activities based on the theme Science behind miracles. In the activities sessions it was demonstrated that how miracles are performed by so called God-men who want to mislead the gullible, but fact behind of miracles worked various principles of science. The contents of the workshop were prepared on theme science behind Miracles using following approaches as modules for the participants.
i. Chemical Based Activities
ii. Techniques Based Activities
iii. Body Related Activities iv. Special Equipment Based Activities

  • 4. Science Communication through Folk Media “Puppetry”

Puppetry is a one of the oldest form of performing arts, puppetry as a tool for Communication. We use it to educate and aware the people about correct information regarding health, environmental pollution. There are possibilities to communicate the subject matter successfully through puppetry folk media. During the workshop produced so resource person science communicator. In this workshop he also wrote content based script more than eight. In which he cover scientific experiments, History of Science and Scientific Phenomena.

  • 5. Science Communication through Nuked Natak

Folk dances, folk songs and folk dramas are part and parcel of our life. It has also been observed that it is possible to accelerate the pace of science communication if folk media are employed effectively in regional languages. Since last 15 years the Indian Resource And Development Association have been using various folk form, especially Nuked Natak to communicate Science & Technology.

  • 6. National Children Science Communication (NCSC)

National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) is a nationwide Science Communication programme started in the year 1993. It is a programme of National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.It is a forum for children of the age-group of 10-17 years, both from formal school system as well as from out of school, to exhibit their creativity and innovativeness and more particularly their ability to solve a societal problem experienced locally using the method of science. Indian Resource And Development Association organized this activity from last some years at district level and to promote spirit of scientific study as well as analysing a problem scientifically in the Children and provide the opportunity to unfold their creativeness and stretch their imagination.

  • 7. Training Workshop on Scientific Explanation of Miracles and Awareness Programme

To motivate people and to create scientific environment, so that people can think before action. By adjusting or gaining knowledge, mind can develop the reason behind the occurrence of superstition and one can understand very well that these things doesn’t affect anybody’s life. Also by being always positive, one can get rid of those superstitions. The workshops will be conducted to create awareness among the people against superstition and other unethical or miraculous activities prevailing in and around their surroundings. Superstition is one of the major social issues affecting the entire country. Science doesn’t believe in this type of supernatural causality because science always tries to give scientific explanation for every event. These workshops organized in three districts of Haryana namely Karnal, Panipat and Jind after the workshop for awareness we demonstrate these activities in 125 Schools and 43 Gram Panchyats.

  • 8.Science Mela

Science Mela organized in two districts of Haryana namely Kaithal and Kurukshetra. Aim of this activity to reach the unreached with the message of effective Science Communication and for developing scientific temper among the society, especially students The main objective for the Activities is to generate awareness and to disseminate scientific information in interesting and innovative formats. The target groups for these activities primarily include school & college students & youth and other sections of society.
Science Mela is a unique way for students to pose questions for which they must seek out answer and to satisfy their own curiosity about the world around them. Science Mela project is an experiment, a demonstration, a research effort, a collection of scientific items, or display of scientific apparatus presented for viewing. It of scientific represents the efforts of a student investigation into some area of interest and provides a way for the students to share the results of those investigations. Through the development of a Science Mela. Students gain a first-hand appreciation of the work.

  • 9.Development of Adolescents Seminar

Adolescence is a period of life with specific health and developmental needs and rights. It is also a time to develop knowledge and skills, learn to manage emotions and relationships, and acquire attributes and abilities that will be important for enjoying the adolescent years and assuming adult roles.
Indian Resource And Development Association is organized a Seminar for Adolescents Development Supported by Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Govt of Haryana.

  • 10. Popularization through Mobile Planetarium

The Sky is full of mystery and Miracles. There are lots of myths prevailing in the Society regarding the spatial incidents i.e. Astronomical, Astrological and many other incidents. During his interaction with nature, man has discovered many things about the sky and has broken the myths and superstitions prevailing in the society regarding them but still a major part of the society believes in the traditional unscientific explanation given by the so called astrologers and the Panda’s with their short knowledge regarding the different scientific incidents in the space. They spread misconceptions among the people and make them Gullible. Lot of exploitation is there of the innocent masses at large
IRADA organized sky watching and telescope making activities. These activities had a great impact on the minds of children and adults equally. The following observations are they’re regarding these shows:

– It generated hunger for more knowledge regarding solar system.
– To some extent shattering of myths & blind faiths related to sky and the universe from the minds of viewers.
